2010 Community Film Series
Ohio Wesleyan Department of English, Strand Theatre co-sponsor annual event
A variety of award-winning films will be shown during the 2010 Community Film Series in March and April. All movies will be shown at The Strand Theatre, 28 E. Winter St., Delaware.
Films will be shown at 9:15 p.m. Tuesdays and 7 p.m. Wednesdays on the following dates:
- March 2-3: My Best Friend’s Wedding (1997). Starring Julia Roberts, Cameron Diaz, and Rupert Everett. A comedy about a woman’s plans to disrupt her best friend’s wedding.
- March 16-17: Hollywoodland (2006). Starring Adrien Brody, Ben Affleck, Diane Lane, and Bob Hoskins. A 1950s-era story of an investigation into the death of Superman actor George Reeves.
- March 23-24: To Die For (1995). Starring Nicole Kidman as a screen-struck weather girl with an inconvenient husband, played by Joaquin Phoenix.
- March 30-31: Lives of Others (2007). In German, with subtitles, this complex political thriller is based in 1984.
- April 6-7: Central Station (1998). In Portuguese with subtitles, a hard-boiled woman and an orphan embark on a long road trip in search of his father.
- April 13-14: The Band’s Visit (2008). In English, Arabic, and Hebrew with subtitles, an Egyptian police band is stranded in Israel.
- April 28-28: Yes (2005). The story of an affair between a British scientist and a Lebanese doctor working as a waiter in London. Produced by an experimental independent filmmaker from the United Kingdom, the movie features dialogue written entirely in rhymed couplets.
Tickets for each showing are $6, and may be purchased at the theatre.
