OWU Student Voices Sing Out In Impressive Opera Theatre Production
Madrigals from Claudio Monteverdi’s Book 7 “Concerto” and Book 8 “Madrigals of Love and War” were performed in the original Italian language during “Monteverdi Revisited,” a production of Opera Theatre in Jemison Auditorium in Sanborn Hall. Monteverdi composed during the late 16th and early 17th centuries and was very influential in the early development of opera.
Opera Theatre has been a tradition for many years for Ohio Wesleyan students participating in the Department of Music’s Opera Theatre Class. For the first time, however, a multi-media production was incorporated into this presentation, said Jason Hiester, Opera Theatre music director and an OWU assistant professor of music. The stage director was Tim Veach, artistic director of Columbus Dance Theater and an adjunct faculty member. Elaine Chun of the OWU AV Department produced the multimedia presentation that provided English translations and visual effects to complement the singing. Will Ruzek ’11 was the videographer and editor of this video.

The Music Man
Chris Meadows ’10 practices for his senior recital, which will be held at 3:15 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 15, in Gray Chapel. Meadows will play selections from Bach, Vierne, Langlais, and others on the University’s Rexford Keller Memorial Organ. The largest of six Klais organs in the United States, the four-manual tracker organ features 82 ranks, 55 stops, and 4,522 pipes. When Meadows is not rehearsing, the music education major shares his talent with the Delaware community by serving as the youth choir director at Asbury United Methodist Church.
