![]() October 21, 2009 – News & Views New Alumni E-Newsletter is Pre-Halloween Treat Ushering in this year’s All Hallows Eve, will be a tasteful and exciting treat for Ohio Wesleyan alumni. “Bishop Banter,” the new monthly e-newsletter of OWU’s Alumni Association, will publish its inaugural edition on October 28. It will provide another way for OWU alumni to connect with their alma mater, and as Brenda DeWitt, director of alumni relations believes, will also provide an additional mode of communication with OWU’s alumni constituent base. “We hope to consolidate some of our frequent e-mail announcements into this one newsletter, providing a central location for our many alumni events and activities,” she says. Included in the newsletter will be a variety of university news stories, monthly alumni events, updates related to Greek Life and Young Alumni interests, and as one of the newsletter coordinators and assistant director of alumni relations Sarah Stiles describes, occasional snippets of OWU Class Notes items that might be submitted online from time to time. “In addition, we will include a section in the newsletter that will be devoted to important links for our alumni, featuring information about such “how to” items focused on requesting OWU transcripts, registering for alumni events, and making gifts to Ohio Wesleyan,” says Stiles. The newsletter also will include links to various parts of the university’s Web site. She emphasizes that “Bishop Banter” will be sent to those OWU alumni for whom the university has good e-mail addresses, and encourages those who want to make sure they receive the newsletter, to send their names, class years, and preferred e-mail addresses to: alumni@owu.edu. “We want the newsletter to become a valued source of information for topics relevant to our alumni,” says DeWitt. “Through monthly updates on such areas as Greek Life as well as special alumni features, we hope to provide opportunities for focused information-sharing that is pertinent to the life of the university and to our alumni.” – Pam Besel |
