![]() September 23, 2009 – Our Town – Delaware Come Out for a Paint-Out
It can be found anywhere, far from where he lives or a few feet away. It is always on his doorstep. – Paul Strand And this limitless world of the artist includes Delaware, Ohio. For the first time ever, Main Street Delaware is hosting the Main Street Paint-Out. On October 3rd, the first Saturday of the month, artists will line the main street of Delaware. Beginning at 9am and working until 6pm, artists of any age, talent level, style, and status will set up an area along the street to construct and complete their artwork. Community members are encouraged to come watch the artists at work and view the finished pieces. To enter, participants must pay $15 to receive a special T-shirt, and all proceeds go to Main Street Delaware. As an alternative to paying the entry fee, artists may donate a piece of artwork to a silent auction that will take place at the event. Throughout the day, many events will be going on to attract the community including the Farmers’ Market. Once the event ends at 6pm, all the artwork made throughout the day will be collected downtown and displayed during the month of November. “It gives the artists an opportunity to capture downtown,” says Main Street Delaware executive director, Frances Hamilton. Any artwork, from photography to water colors to acrylics to ceramics will be allowed. The rain date for the event is October 10.
