Gill Joins Bishop Basketball Staff
Excelled as player and coach at Albion

Marcus Gill has enjoyed success both as a basketball player and a coach, and he looks to help the Battling Bishop men’s basketball team experience some of those same successes.

Gill comes to Ohio Wesleyan after one season at Albion College, where he was a part-time basketball coach while working full-time in the Albion admissions office. When offered a job at Ohio Wesleyan University, he took it with no hesitation, becoming a full-time coach.

“My goal was to coach full-time, and Ohio Wesleyan gave me the opportunity to do that.” Gill says.

Gill also began his coaching career at Albion. He joined the Briton basketball coaching staff immediately upon his graduation from Albion and served as an assistant coach for two years. He helped Albion compile a 26-4 record, win the conference championship, and advance to the final eight of the NCAA Division III tournament in 2005. After the 2005-06 season, he went to graduate school at Siena Heights University and coached for two years there while earning his master’s degree in educational leadership.

During his playing career, he became captain of the basketball team his senior year, leading the Britons to a 20-win season, and during his junior year, he led Albion to a conference championship.

He can also add track and field to his list of sports and accomplishments, having gone to his league’s championship for track as well.

Gill is eager to assist the Ohio Wesleyan basketball team through a season of success, possibly scoring another 20-win season. There is no telling how the season will go at this point in time, but rest assured, Marcus Gill will be a valuable asset to the Battling Bishops.
