Greek Awards Event Salutes Fraternity and Sorority Contributions

Pins and pride were in evidence at this year’s Greek Awards ceremony held April 10 in Gray Chapel.

In an event hosted by Maureen Cearfoss, Delta Delta Delta, and Adam Dworetsky, Chi Phi, and punctuated by on-stage break dancing, moonwalking, and T-shirt tossing—and an appearance by the Bishop—OWU’s Greek community members gathered to honor their own and celebrate their achievements during 2007.

“The purpose of the ceremony,” says Allison Bressler, assistant director of student involvement for Greek life, “is to recognize fraternity and sorority achievement on many levels, from scholarship to service to campus and community involvement. I was excited about this event because it was my first one since I arrived at OWU. The organizers did a great job, and the ceremony was really fun and involving for everyone who attended.”

Although the event was planned by Megan Abram, Kappa Alpha Theta, and Zack Taft, Alpha Sigma Phi, the vice presidents of Panhellenic and Interfraternity Councils, many more council members were on hand to present the awards.

Award-winners were:

  • Chapter House Advisors: Peter Chew of Chi Phi and Joan Klosek of Delta Gamma
  • Outstanding Chapter Advisor: Morgan Flinner, Kappa Kappa Gamma
  • Outstanding Greek Scholars: Paul Janowicz of Chi Phi and Erin Hoagland of Kappa Kappa Gamma
