![]() April 2, 2008 Make a Splash for Sight
It’s all part of Anchor Splash, Delta Gamma’s annual fundraiser. “It’s been held at Ohio Wesleyan for at least the last ten years and it’s one of the largest Greek fundraisers nationwide,” says Rachel Decker `09 of Delta Gamma. “People should attend Anchor Splash because it is an entertaining event that supports a good cause,” says Jaime Fluehr `10 of Delta Gamma. “The swimming relays and synchronized swim are fun to watch. The synchronized swim is a favorite because teams often come up with hilarious routines and outfits.” “This is the first year we are selling ‘Anchors of Hope’,” says Decker. “For 25 cents people can buy an anchor to recognize someone who gives them hope while also getting points for their favorite team. Each team will create a banner advertising the event, our philanthropy, and expressing our theme ‘Lost at Sea with DG.’” Though it’s too late to register a team, you can still support Delta Gamma and Service for Sight. Delta Gamma will table during the week in the campus center and will accept Campbell’s Soup labels and used eyeglasses. “People can also just come to the event to cheer for the teams,” says Decker. “Admission is $3, three Campbell’s soup labels, or one pair of used eyeglasses. All of these things go directly to our national philanthropy, Service for Sight.” Decker adds that Friday is a great night to help others. “Bowl for Kids Sake is at Delaware Lanes at 9:30 p.m.,” she says. “People can just go right over there and continue doing good!” – Ericka Kurtz |
