![]() March 26, 2008 It’s Tea Time!
“With her medical background, Angela brings the therapeutic and health aspects to the tea business,” says Cliff Cook, OWU professor emeritus of economics, and a member of Global Village’s volunteer management team. “We discovered Angela last year and started buying tea in bulk amounts for hand packaging. Many of Macke’s tea leaves come from certified organic and fair trade farms in Sri Lanka, India, Nepal, Taiwan, and China. “Angela has been a leader pushing the envelope, both in terms of quality and with regard to the integrity of the relationships she maintains with the farmers who grow her teas and other ingredients,” says Cook. Ingredients of Hummingbird Nectar, for example, include cherries, berries, flowers, and honey. “You can cook with these ingredients and use them as flavoring. They are fully consumable—and good for you,” says Cook. Refreshments at the tea workshop on April 5 will include foods with tea in the recipes. Tickets are $12.00. “Angela’s educational events are very popular and usually sell out wherever she presents,” says Cook.
