Members of OWU Women’s Field Hockey Receive Honors

Four members of the Ohio Wesleyan field hockey team were named to the 2007 ZAG/NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad, it was announced by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.

Senior goalkeeper Katie Jones, freshman attacker Caiti Goodman, freshman attacker Christa Cocumelli, and freshman midfielder Jessica Wright were honored by the NFHCA.

The National Academic Squad program recognizes collegiate student-athletes who have achieved a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.30 through the first semester of the 2007-08 academic year.

Jones also was a first-team all-region and first-team All-North Coast Athletic Conference selection in 2007, while Cocumelli also received first-team All-NCAC laurels and Wright was an honorable mention All-NCAC pick.

Ohio Wesleyan finished the season with a 10-7 record. The Battling Bishops finished with a 7-5 record in NCAC competition, tying for fourth place in the final league standings.
